UFC Mexico Results & Highlights: Royval Outlasts Moreno in Rematch

A pair of high-stakes rematches sat atop a UFC Fight Night in Mexico.

The UFC returned to Mexico City for the first time since 2019 for an entertaining UFC Fight Night card at the Arena CDMX.

The main event was a flyweight rematch between former champion Brandon Moreno and recent title challenger Brandon Royval. The pair’s first meeting in 2020 saw Moreno walk away victorious after Royval suffered a shoulder injury late in the first round, but “Raw Dawg” got revenge in their rematch when he earned a hard-fought split decision victory.

The co-main event also featured a rematch when Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega ran things back after they previously met in 2022. Their first fight also ended due to an Ortega shoulder injury in the opening round, and “T-City” rebounded from that setback when he submitted Rodriguez in his first appearance since that first meeting took place more than a year and a half ago.

The entire event was loaded with Mexican talent and also included standout performances from fighters like Daniel Zellhuber and Manuel Torres, although the card did unfortunately lose a fight between Raul Rosas Jr. and Ricky Turcios due to an illness on the part of Rosas.
