Ex-UFC Star Mike Perry to Start His Own Combat Sport Promotion With New Rules
Ex-UFC fighter turned BKFC star "Platinum" Mike Perry has revealed that he will be creating his very own fight promotion named 'Platinum Pit Fights' (PPF).
Perry unveiled his project in an Instagram post on October 26, where he also outlined the values and principles of PPF:
"This will be a new combat sport! Different rule set compared to any other! We will treat the athletes with the respect they deserve, I will compete in this league and we will put on the most exciting biggest matchups possible! Wait until you hear the ruleset!"
PPF has its own social media accounts, and the domain name has been registered (warning: not a secure connection). Interestingly, the PPF is advertising itself as the "first ever financially equitable and ownable fight league," in collaborations with top MMA pages such as 'MMA Uncensored', allegedly allowing fans to invest in the promotion by phone call.
This does raise the question of whether the PPF is seeking financial support to kickstart their venture, resembling a fundraiser or a startup business.
Perry's mention of the "different rule set" hasn't been fully explained yet. However, given his style of fighting and his association with BKFC, one can only imagine some sort of bare-knuckle, single-round Vale Tudo tournament.
Whatever the rules, they will still have to be compliant with existing regulations set forth by the relevant state athletic commissions. So don't expect barbed-wire cages anytime soon.
