Conor McGregor still appears to be at odds with Dana White and the UFC regarding plans for his return to the Octagon.

It looked as if “The Notorious” had finally worn out the patience of fight fans when he failed to compete in 2023 following The Ultimate Fighter 31, but a New Year’s Eve announcement that he’d be fighting Michael Chandler in June quickly got the hype train rolling for his comeback bout.
White made headlines just a few weeks after McGregor’s announcement when the UFC CEO claimed that no details were set for the return of the promotion’s biggest star, and in a recent Instagram story, the Irishman expressed some significant frustration regarding the confusion around his return.
"Get this f***ing date set." - McGregor wrote on Instagram.
There was significant speculation in the waning months of 2023 that McGregor might be eyeing a matchup with someone other than Chandler, but it appears the 35-year-old is committed to that fight given that his post also included footage of the two jawing in the cage on TUF 31.

Perhaps the most notable aspect of McGregor’s original comeback announcement was the claim that he and Chandler would fight at middleweight, and while White stated that “The Notorious” would return this year, the UFC CEO indicated that an opponent, date, and weight class are all still up in the air.
The uncertainty around the former two-division champion’s return has led some fans to speculate that McGregor could headline UFC 300, but for the moment White has remained cryptic when asked about the main event for the massive card set to take place on April 13.
