One of the featherweight division’s most dangerous contenders is frustrated that Ilia Topuria doesn’t seem interested in facing opponents in his own weight class.

Topuria looked poised to become a massive star for the UFC ahead of his title shot against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298, and the unbeaten fighter made good on all his pre-fight trash talk when he brutally stopped the long-reigning champion in the second round.

Fight fans are eager to see how long Topuria is able to retain his belt, but fellow unbeaten featherweight Movsar Evloev recently called out the champion for his apparent desire to pursue matchups outside of his current division.

Currently the featherweight division’s #5-ranked contender, Evloev has been in the UFC since 2019 and most recently bested Arnold Allen via unanimous decision when the pair kicked off the main card of UFC 297.

The 30-year-old was obviously having a bit of fun when he included the likes of Muhammad Ali and Lionel Messi in Topuria’s list of preferred opponents, but “El Matador” has indicated that a huge fight with former two-division champion Conor McGregor appears to be at the top of his wish list.

It remains to be seen whether or not Evloev is even next in line for a featherweight title shot after Brian Ortega picked up a huge win at UFC Mexico, but based on the reception Topuria got at last weekend’s Real Madrid match the 27-year-old’s next fight will certainly be a must-watch affair.
