UFC News: Watch Dana White Cut Ribbon at Brand New Mexican UFC PI

The new facility is the third PI that the UFC has built.

UFC CEO Dana White took center stage at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new UFC Performance Institute in Mexico City this week.

The original UFC PI sits opposite the APEX facility in Las Vegas, and the promotion also opened a second PI location in Shanghai, China in 2019.

With an eye on returning to global expansion following the COVID-19 pandemic, a new PI facility has been built in Mexico City and White was present to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony just a couple of days before a huge UFC Fight Night event takes place at the city’s Arena CDMX.

The state of Mexican MMA is arguably as good as it's ever been with recent titleholders like Yair Rodriguez and Brandon Moreno as well as current women's flyweight champion Alexa Grasso, and the new UFC PI will be a huge resource to help develop new talent in the country.

This Saturday’s UFC Fight Night card also marks the promotion’s return to Mexico City for the first time since 2019, and the event is headlined by a rematch between ex-flyweight champion Moreno and former title challenger Brandon Royval.

The last UFC card in Mexico City saw Rodriguez vs. Jeremy Stephens in the card’s main event, and “El Pantera” will also feature in this Saturday’s co-main event when he runs things back with Brian Ortega following their first meeting in 2022.
