UFC 294 Fighter Shares Big Update After Fight-Ending Groin Strike

Victor Henry has shared an update with fans after an inadvertent groin strike from Javid Basharat ended their fight at UFC 294.
Of all the prelim matchups scheduled for UFC 294, perhaps none was more highly-anticipated by hardcore fans than the bantamweight tilt between Henry and the unbeaten Basharat.

Both men appeared to be settling into the fight well after a back-and-forth first round, but unfortunately Basharat mistimed a kick in the opening seconds of the second frame and sent Henry collapsing to the mat in pain.
There was a brief moment of confusion where the cageside doctor claimed the strike had been legal before the fight was rightfully rendered a No Contest, and now Henry has updated fans on the injury in a recent story posted on his Instagram.

“La Mangosta” reacted with shock when the doctor at UFC 294 tried to tell him the kick to his groin had been legal, and the 36-year-old also made sure to acknowledge that interaction in a follow-up post.

Seeing the highly-anticipated bantamweight matchup end in a No Contest was certainly disappointing, but as Henry noted there was no ill intent on Basharat’s part that could have presented an argument for disqualification.
The cageside doctor did end up in the spotlight again during the UFC 294 main card when Magomed Ankalaev landed a knee to Johnny Walker’s head while he was on the ground.
That light heavyweight matchup also ended up being ruled a No Contest, but that result was far more controversial given that Walker appeared ready to continue before an apparent miscommunication with the doctor led to the fight being waved off.
