Roman Kopylov has successfully halted the momentum of Josh Fremd at Noche UFC. Kopylov stopped an injured Fremd with a left hook to the body late into the second round:

Both fighters stepped in on short notice, as Kopylov replaced Chris Curtis to fight Anthony Hernandez, and Fremd stepped in when Hernandez withdrew.

The first round was competitive, with both fighters finding their range and flow. Fremd found success early, pressuring Kopylov and landing his jab in succession.

In the dying seconds of the first round, Fremd overextended and Kopylov nailed him with a spinning back-elbow, before following up with an uppercut which exploded Fremd's nose. Fremd went back to his corner with blood gushing from his nose, his beard turned crimson. His cornermen frantically tried to rally their fighter, asking "Are you back yet" as they ushered Fremd to return to the fight after being rocked.

Round two was all Kopylov, the Russian striker found his rhythm and dug his shin into Fremd's side. Fremd wore the damage, a huge welt appeared on his midsection. Kopylov took his chance and launched a headkick which snapped around Fremd's defending wrist and rocked his skull. There was a pause in the action as both men took a breather, but it was still Kopylov who was leading the action.

The two came to odds again, and Kopylov dug at Fremd's exposed side with a left body hook. Fremd collapsed and the fight was called off.

Kopylov, now on a three-fight win streak, maintains an 11-fight finishing streak, and should be looking to crack the middleweight rankings in his next bout.
