UFC 300: Justin Gaethje Sees ‘BMF’ History Repeating Itself in Max Holloway Fight

Gaethje vows to stop Holloway, but not by the way you think.

Justin Gaethje makes a bold prediction for how his fight with Max Holloway will go.

‘The Highlight’ might just be the most violent fighter on the UFC roster, and the lightweight veteran continues to add to the argument with numerous ‘fight of the night’ honors and vicious knockouts.

Gaethje earned the title of ‘BMF’ AKA ‘Baddest Motherf*****’ with a KO of Dustin Poirier, the same belt he aims to defend against featherweight counterpart Holloway at UFC 300.

While the former champ is a force to be reckoned with, Gaethje says, ‘No one steals the show quite like the highlight.’

“Carnage, chaos, probably some blood and adrenaline coursing through the veins, that is what you are going to get from me. My ability to create damage is second to none,” the BMF champion said in a new promo for UFC 300 (via BJPenn.com).

Both BMF competitors hold high regard for one another, despite a weigh-in gone wrong years ago as Gaethje left Holloway’s ‘prized jewels’ exposed, lifting a towel over the weight scale.

Nevertheless, it’s another day at the office for the ultra-violent Gaethje, who’s planning to do whatever it takes to get Holloway out of there within the distance.

It sure is a tall task as the durable Holloway has never been knocked down in 28 UFC fights, but Gaethje thinks outside forces will eventually intervene in the foreseen beating.

“Max Holloway is a legend, probably the only person on the UFC roster that checks every single box of being a BMF so I have a lot of respect for him,” Gaethje continued. “However, this is my job and I’m going to try and f*** him up.

“I will finish Max, he may not go away the traditional way, but I think I will inflict damage to where the doctors need to stop it. We are about to paint a violent picture and no two better guys to go out there and put on a show.”

If Gaethje’s prediction proves to be true, it’d be reminiscent of the inaugural BMF title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz, where Diaz lost due to a cut above his right eye. The fight was ruled a TKO via doctor stoppage for Masvidal and he was crowned the BMF Champion.

In the opposite corner, Max Holloway looks to show what he’s capable of in his second appearance at lightweight – his first being a decision loss to Dustin Poirier in 2019. Exactly five years to the date, Holloway’s chance at redemption is finally here, all with the addition of the rare BMF title.

“I’m excited that I get to share the octagon with a future Hall of Famer like Justin Gaethje,” Holloway told MMA Junkie. “You guys get to see, man. You guys get to see the difference [from the Poirier fight]. No more talking, we’re a little under two weeks away, and I can’t wait to show you guys.”

Catch Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway at UFC 300 on Apr. 13, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
