Based out of Lima, Peru, FFC has established itself as one of the top proving grounds for up-and-coming MMA fighters in South America. The promotion has kept a busy schedule this year, and its penultimate event of 2023 took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina with a pair of title fights at the top of the card.
A bantamweight matchup between Escobar and Matias Hernandez featured as part of the night's main card, and Escobar brought things to a violent end late in the second round.
With Hernandez covered up against the cage, Escobar pressed his advantage with a few punches before he grabbed ahold of his opponent’s head and landed a huge knee that sent Hernandez collapsing to the canvas.
The incredible finish marked Escobar’s first stoppage-win since he turned pro last year, and it was also his second victory in a row after he was knocked out by Jesus Herreras last March. The Venezuelan is now 4-1 as a professional and previously gathered a considerable amount of in-cage experience during a 10-fight amateur career.
FFC 69 also featured finishes in the main and co-main events when Damian Ruiz claimed the promotion’s featherweight belt with a first-round submission and Bruno Cannetti won the interim lightweight title by knocking out Cesar Arzamendia in under a minute.
