Indiana State's Avila, Ohio State's Tate Among 12 to Join Chicago White Sox NIL Roster
Despite not making the NCAA Tournament, current transfer portal star Robbie Avila - formerly of Indiana State - has enjoyed the spotlight in recent weeks. He recently partnered with CHISOX Athlete Class, the official NIL Program for the Chicago White Sox, leading a 12 student-athlete roster.
A fan favorite during the season, Avila became a hot name in recent months going viral on social media for his unique game, nicknames and on-court glasses. In recent weeks, that has only continued as he's been on national television, even in the NIT. Now in the transfer portal, Avila has a chance to expand his NIL portfolio with a new home.
In the meantime, Avila leads a diverse NIL roster for the White Sox that includes the likes of Carnell Tate, Berkley Mensik, Rylie Mills, Pat Coogan, Abbey Murphy, Malik Elzy, Kylie Feuerbach, Skyla Schulte, Yulexi Diaz, Jack Olsen and Matt Ramos.
Tate, expected to be a standout wide receiver at Ohio State this season, had an impressive Freshman campaign, averaging 14.7 yards per catch.
Feuerbach, a member of the women's Iowa basketball team, had a chance to play for a National Championship but lost to the University of South Carolina in the championship game.
Schulte, a Second Team All-American in 2022, was named First-Team all Big Ten as a gymnast.
The White Sox program is to empower student-athletes and their voices on and off the field.
CHISOX Athlete is a collaborative and inclusive NIL initiative, according to the release. The program will connect a new generation of White Sox ambassadors with branding opportunities, including financial incentives.
The athletes will receive personalized career mentorship, a photoshoot at an iconic Chicagoland sports venue, and a ceremonial first pitch, among other items.
Avila and others will benefit from this awesome partnership, a great way to find a new audience for baseball.
