Caleb Williams, Dr Pepper Award $100,000 in College Tuition
Although Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans finished a disappointing 7-5 this season, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner continued to dominate on and off the field, scaling his impact in different ways.
Through one of his many NIL partnerships - this a season-long campaign with Dr Pepper - Williams and his Caleb Cares foundation were able to help award $100,000 in college tuition to two high school students from The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles.
"Partnering with Dr Pepper and my own foundation, Caleb Cares, to be able to help kids with their college education has been incredibly rewarding," said Williams. "It's always important to me to align with a brand that prioritizes some of the same values I hold, as far as empowering the youth and providing opportunities to those who are looking to further their education. I'm thrilled we came together to support high school members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles through my foundation."
The quarterback and soft drink brand hosted a recreation of the Dr Pepper Tuition Toss, where students compete to see who can throw the most footballs into an oversized soda can.
Williams coached up the two students who went head-to-head in the competition. Kamari B. landed eight footballs in 30 seconds to win $50,000 in future tuition money from Dr Pepper and after the check presentation, Williams surprised runner-up Julieta R. with a $50,000 match via Caleb Cares.
The $100,000 total donation is the same amount awarded to each winner of the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway - now it its 15th year - that will take place this weekend during halftime of the PAC-12, Big 12, SEC, ACC, and Big 10 conference championship games.
Williams has been the face of Dr Pepper's Fansville campaign, including multiple TV commercials throughout the season. Each element of the partnership has featured elements of the expected top NFL Draft pick's foundation, which focuses on eliminating bullying, increasing mental health awareness and youth empowerment.
