Houston Football, Basketball Programs Benefit From Ford NIL Deals
Car dealership NIL deals have become more common across the country over the past few years and continue to grow, with student-athlete cruising around their respective campuses in new wheels.
According to Automotive News, the family-owned and Houston-based Ford truck dealer - Chastang Ford - has signed multiple Cougar student-athletes to NIL partnerships, including basketball players Clayton Tune, Donovan Mutin, Damian Dunn, among others.
Dunn recently signed with the company and annoucned via a collab post Chastang Ford in December of 2023.
The senior guard out of Kinston, North Carolina has struggled a bit offensively since coming to Houston, averaging 7.3 points per game. Dunn averaged 15.3 in the 2022-23 season at Temple.
However, there have been bright spots during his time and he's going to be a big part of Houston attempting to win the National Championship.
With Houston joining the Big 12, improved NIL deals will be attractive to future recruits. The basketball team is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation and sits at 20-3 overall.
Jamal Shead and LJ Cryer have two of the top three NIL valuations, according to On3. Both athletes valuations are above $100,000.
Chastang Ford's commitment to the school's athletic program is impressive and hopefully for the student-athletes, they'll continue to make deals with them.
