LSU Coach Kim Mulkey Praises Teams' NIL Selflessness
LSU's women's basketball team is currently the No. 2 ranked team in the nation. Sitting at 28-4, the Tigers are among the favorites to win March Madness.
The star-studded roster features Angel Reese, Flau'Jae Johnson, Hailey Van Lith, and others. Johnson has an NIL valuation of $1.1 million, according to On3. Reese currently has the eighth-highest valuation at $1.7 million.
It isn't all about what they do on the court. In fact, Reese and Johnson have done nothing but give back to their communities with all of the money that they've made through NIL deals.
Head coach Kim Mulkey spoke about what the two do for their communities, according to On3.
“They do share their wealth,” Mulkey said. “Angel does a lot for her community back in Baltimore, she’s done a lot for Baton Rouge. And Flau’jae, I have to mention Flau’jae. She’s the same way. Those young ladies are very, very unselfish when it comes to helping people.”
Giving back to their communities is awesome to see. While many athletes have done so, not everyone goes to the lengths that these stars have.
NIL money is a big factor in college sports, especially in women's college basketball. Van Lith coming to LSU was a surprise during the offseason and NIL money was believed to have been a factor in that.
After Reese became a star last March, she landed new deals and made plenty of money due to her play on the court and off it.
LSU will have a chance to take down top-ranked and undefeated South Carolina in the SEC Championship on Sunday.
