Mahomes Donates Custom Truck for Texas Tech NIL Raffle
Reigning NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes is one of the most marketable athletes in all of sports, yet his personal brand flew a bit under the radar during his prolific - and pre-NIL - Texas Tech days.
The two-time Super Bowl Champion and member of the Red Raiders' Ring of Honor supports his alma mater in a multitude of ways, recently leading his footwear sponsor adidas to sign a deal with Texas Tech to take over from Under Armour as the school's apparel and football brand.
This season, Mahomes donated his custom 2019 Nissan Titan XD Rocky Ridge Edition pickup truck to help collective The Matador Club raise funds for Red Raider student-athletes.
The truck - featuring custom custom seat stitching of Mahomes' logo and number 15 - only has ten thousand miles with a Kelly Blue Book value of $61,775. For a donation of $100 per raffle ticket, fans can get a great deal on the MVP's wheels.
The collective - that launched the Mahomes raffle in September - has been promoting December as the final month to enter, before the winner is announced on January 6.
“We are incredibly honored to partner with Patrick Mahomes for this truck raffle," Matador Club Board Member Cody Campbell said in a press release. "Not only does it give fans the chance to win a truly one-of-a-kind truck, but it also allows us to make a significant impact in our community.”
According to the collective, all dollars received will go directly to student-athletes serving in the West Texas community. Donations to The Matador Club benefit local charities and organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Lubbock Impact, Communities in Schools, Guadalupe Parkway and South Plains Food Bank. Per the collective's website, Matador Club student-athletes have provided more than 1,500 hours of community service.
Raffle tickets can be purchased online via the Matador Club, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization focused on creating avenues for Texas Tech student-athletes to make a positive impact with their NIL.
Texas Tech finished the regular season 6-6 and will take on Cal-Berkley in the Independence Bowl on December 16.
