Michigan Premieres Women's Gymnastics Docuseries
Ahead of their highly-anticipated 2023-24 campaign season, Michigan women's gymnastics and the school's multimedia rightsholder Learfield have launched an all-access docuseries - Michigan Made: Women’s Gymnastics - that highlights the teams preparation for the new campaign.
Premiering on December 5 and presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the five-part series will give fans an unparalleled look into the perennial power. Under head coach Bev Plocki, the Wolverines have won 27 Big Ten championships, advanced to 31 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships and won the program's first team national title in 2021.
The series will combine athlete and coach interviews, exclusive practice football and a unique look at the Wolverines' lives outside of the gym.
“We are really excited to have this opportunity to show people some of the hard work and behind the scenes stories that make this team what it is and that show what our culture really is,” Plocki shared in a release. “There is so much more to our program than what people see on competition day and this is a great way to give people a look inside.”
Last season, the Wolverines won their second consecutive Big Ten Championship and made their 32nd NCAA appearance, with four women - graduate students Abby Heiskell and Natalie Wojcik, senior Sierra Brooks and junior Naomi Morrison - competing at the NCAA Championship for individual national titles. Heiskell, Brooks and Morrison were subsequently named first team All-Americans, with Wojcik earning second team honors.
This year's squad won its annual exhibition meet against Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan over the weekend.
The Wolverines officially being their season at the Super 16 meet in Las Vegas on January 5 and episodes of Michigan Made: Women’s Gymnastics will premiere weekly until then on www.mgoblue.com/michiganmade.
