Nebraska Collective Kicks Off Countdown to Signing Day NIL Fundraiser

The 1890 Initiative has $500,000 goal ahead of early signing day

Nebraska football, head coach Matt Rhule and collective The 1890 Initiative, LLC have been the talk of the NIL world over the past few weeks sparking polarizing conversations, social media virality and a flurry of rumors in conjunction with the transfer portal and early signing period.

On the heels on this massive momentum, the Huskers' collective kicked off "1890's Countdown to Signing Day," a weeklong drive to support NIL contributions with the goal of raising $500,000 before the early signing day on December 20. According to the collective, a generous donor will match the first $250,000 raised.

"This is a pivotal moment for NIL in Nebraska, and it's incredible to see so much enthusiasm right now for our Husker athletes and our exceptional college athletic programs," said 1890 President Matt Davison. "Over the next week, the 1890 Initiative will use its platform to advocate for student-athletes and expand awareness of NIL across the state."

Rumors regarding Nebraska being a potential destination for Ohio State transfer Kyle McCord and five-star high school recruit - and current Georgia commit - Dylan Raiola. continue to drive momentum for the Huskers and their NIL efforts.

Additionally, Rhule's comments from two weeks ago about the going rate for a transfer quarterback - "$1 million to $1.5 million to $2 million right now" - still drive headlines and NIL conversations across the country.

The Huskers' coach appeared on the The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday to speak on the state of college football overall, transfer portal in particular and current NIL costs. In what was supposed to be a ten-minute conversation, ended up extending to 42 minutes.

The 1890 Initiative's new fundraising campaign kicks off Wednesday and supporters can simply text NEBNIL to 801801 to donate.
