In this story:

The Nebraska football team disappointed in Matt Rhule's first year as the head coach for the program. With the offseason here and the transfer portal spinning out of control, landing a star-caliber quarterback is the top priority.

As a result, the Cornhuskers have emerged as a possible landing spot for two top options: Ohio State transfer Kyle McCord and five-star Georgia commit Dylan Raiola.

Neither player has made a decision, but McCord and fellow Ohio State teammate Julian Fleming had a visit, and Raiola's name has been circulating a lot lately as he could possibly flip to Nebraska. For what it's worth, his father, Dominic, played at Nebraska, so there is some major lineage in Lincoln.

With both quarterbacks potentially being options for the Cornhuskers, the 1890 Initiative (Nebraska's NIL collective) has been gaining steam.

Rhule has been quite vocal about the going rate for a transfer quarterback these days - "$1 million to $1.5 million to $2 million right now" - so the Cornhusker's collective has a clear sense of what it might take to land their next signal caller.

Nebraska fans have been buzzing with transfer portal rumors galore and after the subpar quarterback carousel this past season, it would be well worth the NIL resources to lock in the position for the next 4-5 years, at least.

The timing sure is interesting, and Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports gave Raiola a crystal ball prediction to Nebraska on Monday, so there are plenty of rumors swirling around Omaha.

Furthermore, this goes hand in hand with Rhule's comments earlier in December, where he said a "good quarterback" would cost millions.

If the Cornhuskers want to land a player of the caliber of McCord and/or Raiola, the NIL resources need to be there, and the 1890 Initiative has been gaining plenty of traction with all of these rumblings.
