Nike Celebrates NIL Partner Caitlin Clark's All-Time Scoring Record

World's top sports brand commemorates Iowa star setting new NCAA scoring mark

The moment No. 4-ranked Iowa star Caitlin Clark set the NCAA’s all-time scoring record on Thursday night, her NIL partner Nike was ready to celebrate.

The world's top sports brand shared a static image across their social accounts with the powerful message of “You break it, you own it" and launched jersey t-shirts with the same copy on the front and Clark 22 on the back.

On Instagram alone, a collab post between Nike and Nike Women combined to reach over 310 million followers, certainly driving traffic to Clark's own channels.

"It's cool. It's cool to be in the same realm as a lot of really, really good players," Clark said at halftime after setting the record early in the first quarter against Michigan. "I'm lucky to do it because I have really good teammates and really good coaches and a great support system that surrounds me."

In true Clark-fashion, she broke the record by hitting a ridiculously long three-pointer. "You all knew I was going to shoot a logo 3 for the record. Come on now," Clark said after the game.

Clark not only set the all-time NCAA scoring mark - topping former Washington star now Las Vegas Aces' two-time WNBA champ Kelsey Plum's mark of 3,527 points - but finished with an Iowa single-game record of 49 points in the 106-89 victory over Michigan.

After the game, Clark - who now has 3,569 points to her name - shared: "This is a place I grew up loving, and people have supported me ever since I was a young girl playing high school basketball in this state. They always pushed me to achieve my dreams and supported me every step of the way. I'm just grateful that I get to wear Iowa across my chest and represent my state that cares so much about women's athletics and women's basketball, especially. I get to live out my dream every day."

Nike - who signed Clark in 2022 - is one of the many brands that the Iowa star counts in her NIL portfolio, including State Farm, Bose, Gatorade and Topps. Clark recently made additional history when her 2022 Topps Bowman University Superfractor Rookie set the record for most expensive women’s basketball card ever at a whopping $78,000.

Clark and the Hawkeyes next visit No. 14 Indiana on Thursday February 22.
