Last Wednesday, a group of dedicated University of North Carolina supporters launched the Secondary Break Club: a NIL collective that will support UNC men's basketball, among other student-athletes, to profit from their name, image, and likeness.

The basketball collective will create NIL opportunities focused on community engagement, team building, and personal development.

The organization was formerly known as Tri-Cord Management, but was rebranded as Secondary Break Club. Former Director of Player Development at the University of Kentucky, TJ Beisner, has been hired to serve as the collective's Executive Director.

In the Inside Carolina podcast, Beisner shared his vision for building a sustainable collective:

"I'll tell you my personal viewpoint on this: it's not the fans' job to sustain the collective. We are going to give fans who want to be involved a chance to be involved. It is my job to build a business model that is going to be sustainable, that's going to have local businesses, it's going to have fans from all over the world who want to get involved in these opportunities with the student-athletes. . . . I think we're in a really good spot with where we're headed and just look forward to everyone's support and getting there with Coach Davis."

The collective has the support of Carolina head coach Hubert Davis, who shared, "My heart and passion are service-oriented and my career in basketball has given me countless opportunities to give back to my community. . . . Secondary Break Club was created to help our Carolina student-athletes, but we will always keep service to others at the center of what we do. That's Carolina Basketball."

The men's basketball team, ranked #9 in the country, is off to a hot start and will host #16 ranked Kentucky on Saturday.
