Ohio State to Launch a New NIL Inclusion Series
The Ohio State University athletic department is partnering with Advance NIL to launch a three-session NIL inclusion series to provide NIL opportunities for student-athletes of various backgrounds and experiences, says the school.
The goal of the three-session program is to provide diversity-centered NIL education and help student-athletes leverage their diversity to benefit from NIL deals.
OSUNIL worked with student-athletes to pick the topics for each of the three sessions. Black and brown student-athlete organizations, women student-athlete organization VIS, and the LGBTQIA+ organization Buckeye Spectrum were of big help in creating the new NIL series.
Chase Davenport-Mills of the men's gymnastics team had the following to say about this NIL series:
“I am excited to expand my horizon on all the information about NIL and learn more about how it will improve my college experience in all aspects!"
NIL deals aren't always about making as much money as student-athletes can. Oftentimes, they can be a benefit to student-athletes in ways that are different than compensation.
This is clearly one of those situations as Ohio State did an excellent job bringing student athletes together to share their diversity.
Victoria Carlson says that this collaboration is an amazing way to celebrate the intersection of different identities between Ohio State athletes.
“I am excited for the opportunity to have Buckeye Spectrum, a registered student-organization for LGBTQ+ Student-Athletes and allies, partner with OSUNIL.
"I am grateful to be a part of an athletic department that takes time to check in with student-athletes and create programming that caters to their needs. Buckeye Spectrum was created as a space where student-athletes could connect around their shared experiences."
The first session was hosted at the end of February with the last two sessions scheduled in March and April.
