Top NIL Program Michigan Hires New Head Football Coach
The Michigan football program announced that Sherrone Moore will be the school's new head coach, replacing Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh took the Los Angeles Chargers job earlier in the week. Moore served as the interim head coach when Harbaugh was suspended for four games.
In the four games that Moore was the interim head coach, he went 4-0 with the two biggest wins of the season, defeating Penn State and Ohio State. A loss to either one of those teams would've likely been the end of Michigan's National Championship run.
Moore's contract is for five years with a base salary of $500,000 and $5 million in additional compensation in year one, according to Tom VanHaaren of ESPN.
Michigan will go through an interesting period here, just as all schools do when they lose a legendary head coach. However, with the money that they made from winning the National Championship and a highly regarded NIL program, recruits will still come to Michigan to try to win a National Championship.
Michigan has the 16th-ranked recruiting class coming in, according to 247Sports. They don't have a five-star recruit but do have 18 four-stars. The school finds itself behind Penn State and Ohio State.
As Harbaugh leaves, Moore and the Michigan staff's job will be keeping existing players and finding more talent in the transfer portal. With NIL money to give out, and an opportunity to play, Michigan's again one of the top places to play next season.
It's going to be a different season than years past, but expect the Wolverines to load up.
