On Tuesday night, the Dallas Mavericks will be in New York City to play the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

However, they will be without their best player, as Anthony Davis has been ruled out.

The former Kentucky star returned from an 18-game absence (on Monday).

Via Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News: "#Mavs star Anthony Davis (left adductor strain) is out for tonight's game against the #Knicks, as expected.

PJ Washington is listed as questionable with a left ankle sprain. Brandon Williams (low back tightness) is also questionable."

The Mavs are coming off a dominant 120-101 victory over the Brookyn Nets (on Monday in New York).

Davis put up 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block while shooting 6/9 from the field and 0/2 from the three-point range in 27 minutes of playing time.

Via Iztok Franko: "Anthony Davis is the type of big the Mavericks haven't had in a long time, if ever. One who draws double teams on the block and can generate advantages from that..."

The Mavs are currently the 11th seed in the Western Conference with a 35-37 record in 72 games.

They have won two in a row (but lost seven out of their last ten).

After the Knicks, the Mavs will play their next game on Thursday night when they visit the Orlando Magic in Florida.
