Over/Under Win Totals For All 30 NBA Teams in 2023-24

The 2023-24 NBA regular season is here and it's time to take a stab at which teams we think can go over their projected wins total, and who might go under. Fastbreak on FanNation publisher Tom Brew and senior writer Ben Stinar make their picks.

Over/Under Win Totals For All 30 NBA Teams in 2023-24 /

The 2023-24 NBA season is upon us, the opening tip on Tuesday night and most everyone else getting in action Wednesday.

It's always fun to look at the projected win totals for all 30 teams, to get a feel for what might happen. Here are the projected totals by conference and in alphabetical order, from the Fanduel.com gambling website:

  • EASTERN CONFERENCE
  • Atlanta Hawks — 42.5
  • Boston Celtics — 54.5
  • Brooklyn Nets — 37.5
  • Charlotte Hornets — 31.5
  • Chicago Bulls — 37.5
  • Cleveland Cavaliers — 50.5
  • Detroit Pistons — 27.5
  • Indiana Pacers — 39.5
  • Miami Heat — 44.5
  • Milwaukee Bucks — 53.5
  • New York Knicks – 45.5
  • Orlando Magic — 37.5
  • Philadelphia 76ers — 48.5
  • Toronto Raptors — 36.5
  • Washington Wizards — 24.5
  • WESTERN CONFERENCE
  • Dallas Mavericks — 43.5
  • Denver Nuggets — 52.5
  • Golden State Warriors — 47.5
  • Houston Rockets — 31.5
  • Los Angeles Clippers — 45.5
  • Los Angele Lakers — 47.5
  • Memphis Grizzlies — 46.5
  • Minnesota Timberwolves — 44.5
  • New Orleans Pelicans — 44.5
  • Oklahoma City Thunder — 44.5
  • Phoenix Suns — 52.5
  • Portland Trail Blazers — 27.5
  • Sacramento Kings — 44.5
  • San Antonio Spurs — 28.5
  • Utah Jazz — 35.5

One of the tasks that's always fun to do this time of year is to pick three teams that we think will go over that total, and three that will go under.

Here are my choices:

  • Tom Brew's overs: Denver Nuggets (52.5), Indiana Pacers (39.5), Milwaukee Bucks (53.5)
  • The skinny: The Nuggets were convincing NBA champions a year ago, and basically return the same group. I know the Western Conference is tough, but I just can't see them getting beat 30 times. I like that young core in Indiana, and they're my surprise team to make the playoffs after missing out in 2023. And the Bucks? I'm all in on Giannis and Dame, and I think they'll be the best team in the East. They get at least 56 wins, in my book
  • Tom Brew's unders — Los Angeles Lakers (47.5), Toronto Raptors (36.5), Philadelphia 76ers (48.5).
  • The skinny: I like too many other Western Conference teams to think the Lakers will take the regular season serious enough to win more than that. LeBron in Year 21 and Anthony Davis is too hit and miss for me. The Raptors might be in trade mode early and James Harden will blow up the Sixers.

I had to have my Fastbreak on FanNation senior writer Ben Stinar jump in as well. Here are the three teams he likes to go over, and three to go under.

  • Ben Stinar's overs — Atlanta Hawks (42.5), Boston Celtics (54.5), Utah Jazz (35.5).
  • Ben Stinar's unders — Phoenix Suns (52.5), Denver Nuggets (52.5), Milwaukee Bucks (53.5)
  • The skinny: The team Ben likes the most to hit its win total is the Atlanta Hawks. They have made the NBA playoffs for three straight seasons and are led by superstar point guard Trae Young. They are now in their second season with Dejounte Murray and have also finally moved on from John Collins. Since the critical players on the roster are familiar with each other, I think it's fair to assume they can win two more games than they did last season. Also, don't forget Young led the Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021.

There is only one team that Ben and I think differently on — the Nuggets. Here's Ben's take on why he went under.

  • The skinny: The Denver Nuggets are coming off a season where they shocked the world. They now know what it takes to win a title. Therefore, I think they will shoot for a top 4 seed but know that health is the most important thing for the NBA playoffs. I see them winning right near that number of 50-52 wins. They know they won't be defined by the regular season.
