Anthony Davis' Fearless Statement After Lakers-Grizzlies Game
On Wednesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Memphis Grizzlies (in Tennessee) by a score of 116-99 in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series.
They had a chance to close out the series, but the Grizzlies were able to avoid elimination.
Despite the loss, Anthony Davis had a fantastic night with 31 points, 19 rebounds, one assist, one steal and two blocks while shooting 14/23 from the field in 35 minutes of playing time.
After the game, the eight-time NBA All-Star met with the media and shared a bold statement about Game 6 on Friday night in Los Angeles.
Davis: "If coach needs me to play 42, 45, 48, whatever minutes to get the job done, I'll be ready to do so."
Davis has played well during the series, with averages of 21.8 points, 13.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 4.2 blocks per contest.
He is in his fourth season playing for the Lakers and helped lead the franchise to the NBA Championship during the 2020 season.
The Lakers currently have a 3-2 lead in the series, so they will have another chance to eliminate the Grizzlies in Game 6.
If the Grizzlies are able to stay alive, Game 7 will be back in Memphis on Sunday.
Whoever wins the series will advance to the second round and face off against either the Golden State Warriors or Sacramento Kings.
That series is currently 3-2 in favor of the Warriors, and they will also play Game 6 on Friday night (in San Francisco).
