Boston Celtics Player Ruled Out For At Least A Week
On Sunday evening, the Boston Celtics are hosting the Atlanta Hawks in Massachusetts.
The Celtics are playing without Kristaps Porzingis, who got injured during Friday's loss to the Orlando Magic in Florida.
Before the game against the Hawks, head coach Joe Mazzulla provided an update on the 2018 NBA All-Star.
Via Bobby Manning of Celtics on CLNS: "Joe Mazzulla said Kristaps Porzingis (calf) will be evaluated in a week. That means he’ll likely miss the #Bulls IST game, the #76ers on Friday and perhaps the start of the IST bracket if Boston makes it."
Porzingis is in his first season with the Celtics and is averaging 18.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 blocks per contest while shooting 54.7% from the field and 32.4% from the three-point range in 15 games.
He has played well with Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday, and the team is the first seed in the Eastern Conference with a 12-4 record in their first 16 games.
They are 7-3 over their previous ten games and a perfect 6-0 in the six games they have hosted in Boston.
Following the Hawks, the Celtics will play their next game on Tuesday evening when they host Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls.
In addition to the Celtics, Porzingis has also played for the New York Knicks, Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks.
His career averages are 19.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 blocks per contest while shooting 45.5% from the field and 35.8% from the three-point range.
