BREAKING: 3-Year NBA Player Reportedly Could Miss Remainder Of Season
On Sunday evening, the Houston Rockets beat the Sacramento Kings by a score of 112-104.
However, the more significant concern was that Alperen Sengun left the game with an injury.
On Tuesday, Shams Charania of Stadium reported that Sengun will not need surgery but is still likely to miss the remainder of the 2023-24 regular season.
Sengun is currently averaging 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals per contest while shooting 53.7% from the field and 29.7% from the three-point range in 63 games.
Charania: "Sources tell me Alperen Sengun, the Rockets young superstar, has suffered a Grade 3 right ankle sprain. He will miss several weeks. Tremendous sigh of relief, as he has avoided any damage to that right knee. He's avoided surgery, but this likely ends his regular season."
Sengun was the 16th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and is in his third season in the league (all with the Rockets).
His career averages are 14.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 52.8% from the field and 28.4% from the three-point range in 210 regular season games.
The Rockets have yet to make the NBA playoffs during his tenure.
As for the Rockets, they are the 11th seed in the Western Conference with a 29-35 record in 64 games.
They are 5.0 games behind the Golden State Warriors for the final play-in tournament spot (tenth seed).
On Tuesday evening, the Rockets will visit Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.
