BREAKING: Giannis Antetokounmpo's Final Injury Status For Heat-Bucks Game 2
On Wednesday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks are hosting the Miami Heat in Wisconsin for Game 2 of their first-round playoff series.
For the game, they will be without their best player, as Giannis Antetokounmpo has been ruled out due to a back injury.
Underdog NBA: "Giannis Antetokounmpo (back) ruled out Wednesday."
The two-time MVP got injured during Game 1 and only played 11 minutes with six points and three rebounds.
He has been arguably the best player in the NBA this season, with averages of 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest while shooting 55.3% from the field.
His availability will have major implications on the series and the entire NBA Playoffs.
The Heat were able to win Game 1 by a score of 130-117, so they can take a commanding 2-0 lead back to Miami if they win on Wednesday night.
Despite finishing 44-38 and losing their first play-in tournament, the Heat (who are the eighth seed) have been to the Conference Finals in two out of the last three seasons.
In 2020, they made the NBA Finals, and last season they lost in Game 7 of the Conference Finals.
Therefore, the Bucks, who are the first seed and went 58-24, are in a tough spot without their best player for Game 2.
In 2021, Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to the NBA Championship over the Phoenix Suns, while last season, they lost to the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the second round.
Whoever wins the series will face off with either the New York Knicks or Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round.
