BREAKING: Player Transported To Hospital During Pacers-76ers Game
On Tuesday evening, the Indiana Pacers are facing off against the Philadelphia 76ers in Pennsylvania.
During the game, Jalen Smith got injured, and he did not return.
The former Maryland star finished his night with five points and one assist while shooting 2/2 from the field in 15 minutes of playing time.
The Pacers have now announced that Smith was transported to the hospital.
Via The Pacers: "Injury Report: Jalen Smith was assessed after leaving tonight's game and the initial diagnosis is a head injury. Out of an abundance of caution, Smith will be transported to a local hospital for additional testing and evaluation."
Smith came into the evening averaging 11.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 69.8% from the field and 64.3% from the three-point range in eight games this season.
The 23-year-old was the tenth pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and this is his fourth season in the league (he has also spent time with the Phoenix Suns).
His career averages are 8.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 49.6% from the field and 31.1% from the three-point range in 154 regular season games (he has also appeared in six NBA playoff games).
As for the Pacers, they are 6-4 in their first ten games and most recently lost to the 76ers (also in Pennsylvania) by a score of 137-126.
Following the 76ers, they will play their next game against Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic (at home) on Sunday evening.
