BREAKING: Joel Embiid's Updated Status For 76ers-Pelicans Game

Joel Embiid has been ruled out for Wednesday's game.

On Wednesday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers are in New Orleans to face off against the Pelicans.  

For the game, the 76ers will be without their best player, as Joel Embiid has now been ruled out.

Embiid has played in 16 games so far this season and is averaging 32.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.9 blocks per contest while shooting 49.8% from the field and 31.5% from the three-point range.  

The 76ers are 12-5 in their first 17 games, which has them as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. 

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak and most recently defeated the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 138-94.  

In 31 minutes of playing time, Embiid had 30 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, one steal and one block while shooting 9/15 from the field and 2/3 from the three-point range.  

Embiid is coming off a year where he won the 2023 MVP Award and is one of the ten best players in the league. 

Following the Pelicans, the 76ers will play their next game on Friday when they visit the Boston Celtics. 

As for the Pelicans, they are 9-9 in their first 18 games, which has them as the ninth seed in the Western Conference. 

They most recently lost to the Utah Jazz by a score of 114-112. 

Following the 76ers, the Pelicans will play their next game on Friday when they host the San Antonio Spurs.
