FINAL UPDATE: Karl-Anthony Towns started the second half.  

UPDATE: Karl-Anthony Towns has returned to the team's bench.

On Friday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves are hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Target Center for the final play-in tournament game.

Whoever wins the contest will become the eighth seed in the Western Conference and face off with the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Meanwhile, the loser will have their season come to an end.

During the game, Karl-Anthony Towns got injured and had to go to the locker room.

The former Kentucky star has spent his entire career with the Timberwolves and is coming off a season where he helped lead the franchise to the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2018.  

This year, Towns only played in 29 regular season games but averaged a very productive 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest while shooting 49.5% from the field.  

The Timberwolves lost their first play-in tournament game 108-102 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night in Los Angeles, California. 

Towns played 41 minutes and put up 24 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks while shooting 8/12 from the field.  

Friday's game against the Thunder is now at halftime, and the three-time NBA All-Star has 15 points and five rebounds while shooting 6/9 from the field in 16 minutes of playing time.
