On Saturday evening, the San Antonio Spurs are in Dallas to face off against the Mavericks.

However, they will be without their best player, as Victor Wembanyama has been ruled out.

Via ESPN's Tim MacMahon: "Per Spurs, Victor Wembanyama is a late scratch and will not play vs. Mavs. He stepped on a ball boy’s foot during warmups. After he was re-taped, Spurs made decision to sit him."

Underdog NBA has announced the Spurs' updated starting lineup for the game.

Via Underdog NBA: "Updated lineup alert: Spurs will start Branham, Vassell, Champagnie, Sochan, Collins on Saturday."

Wembanyama was the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and has had an excellent start to his rookie season.

The 19-year-old is averaging 18.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 3.0 blocks per contest while shooting 43.5% from the field and 27.9% from the three-point range in 25 games.

That said, the Spurs have been among the worst teams in the league and are the 15th seed in the Western Conference with a 4-23 record in their first 27 games.

They are 1-9 over their last ten games and in the middle of a three-game losing streak.

Following the Mavs, the Spurs will play their next game on Tuesday evening when they host the Utah Jazz in San Antonio.

As for the Mavs, they are the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 16-12 record in their first 28 games.

They are 5-5 over their last ten games and in the middle of a three-game losing streak.
