Cleveland Cavaliers Star Injured In Loss To Miami Heat On Friday Night
On Friday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers fell 119-115 to the Miami Heat just two days after they won by four points in Miami.
Donovan Mitchell was great for Cleveland, scoring a game-high 42 points, his ninth 40-point game this season, but the Cavs were without Darius Garland due to a quad injury and they lost Jarrett Allen in this one as well.
Going up for a rebound late in the fourth quarter, Allen was swiped across the face by Heat center Bam Adebayo and Adebayo appeared to make direct contact with Jarrett Allen's right eye.
Allen was in a lot of discomfort on the ground and he immediately covered his eye in pain with both hands. After a couple of minutes, he was escorted to the Cavaliers' locker room with a towel over his eye by the team's medical staff.
After the game, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff told reporters that he had yet to get an update on Allen's eye, as he had not seen him prior to his postgame press conference, this according to The Athletic's Kelsey Russo.
Playing in a total of 62 games this season, including Friday night's loss, Jarrett Allen has averaged 14.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 64.9 percent from the floor. He currently ranks 13th in the NBA in rebounding and 7th in field goal percentage (min. 300 attempts).
The Cavaliers will play their next two games on the road against the Charlotte Hornets this upcoming Sunday and Tuesday. Allen's status for these games is yet to be determined, but given that the Hornets currently own one of the worst records in the league, the Cavaliers may opt to give Allen extra time to rest and recover from his eye injury.
