D'Angelo Russell's Injury Status In Lakers-Rockets Game
Update Via ESPN's Dave McMenamin: "Darvin Ham said Russell sitting was precautionary and he could have played in the second half if they needed him. He said Russell’s foot “flared up” a bit and wanted to keep him out if they could."
On Sunday night, the Los Angeles Lakers are in Texas facing off with the Houston Rockets.
For the second half, they will be without their star point guard, as 2019 NBA All-Star D'Angelo Russell has been ruled out due to a foot injury.
Via Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet: "Injury update: D'Angelo Russell is out for the rest of the game tonight due to left foot soreness."
The former Ohio State star finishes his night with six points, three rebounds and four assists in 15 minutes of playing time.
Russell entered the matchup with averages of 17.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 46.7% from the field and 39.1% from the three-point range.
He was traded to the Lakers in February and has helped completely turn around their season.
They came into the night with a 39-38 record in 77 games, which has them as the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
Over the last ten games, the Lakers have gone 6-4, and they are in the middle of a two-game winning streak.
Sunday's matchup with the Rockets is the third of a five-game road trip, and they will play the final two against the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers.
As for the Rockets, they are the 15th seed in the Western Conference with a 19-59 record in 78 games.
They are 3-7 in their last ten games and 13-26 in the 39 games they have hosted on their home floor in Houston, Texas.
