Donovan Mitchell's Status For Hornets-Cavs Game

Donovan Mitchell has been ruled out for Sunday's game.

On Sunday afternoon, the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Charlotte Hornets in Ohio for their final regular season game of the year.      

For the game, they will be without their best player, as All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell has been ruled out.

The former Louisville star is having a fantastic season with averages of 28.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals per contest in 68 games. 

He is also shooting 48.4% from the field and 38.6% from the three-point range.

In addition, Mitchell has led the Cavs to their best season in years. 

They are headed to the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2018 and are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 51-30 record in 81 games. 

Over the last ten games, the Cavs have gone 7-3, and they are in the middle of a three-game winning streak. 

At home, they have been sensational, with a 31-9 record in 40 games hosted in Ohio. 

Mitchell spent the first five seasons of his career with the Utah Jazz, and he has never missed the NBA Playoffs. 

As for the Hornets, they have had a tough season due to injuries and will not make the 2023 playoffs. 

They are the 14th seed in the east with a 26-55 record in 81 games. 

Over the last ten games, the Hornets have gone 4-6, and they are in the middle of a four-game losing streak. 

On the road, they are 13-27 in the 40 games they have played away from Charlotte.
