Golden State Warriors Give Update On Stephen Curry's Leg Injury
Suffering partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane, as well as a contusion to his left lower leg on February 4 against the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was recently re-evaluated by the Warriors medical staff following the NBA All-Star break.
According to the team, Curry is making "good progress" and has started various individual on-court workouts that will continue in the upcoming days as the Warriors resume their season on Thursday night.
However, Curry will not be returning for at least another week, as he is schedule to be re-evaluated at the end of the month.
Currently 29-29, the Golden State Warriors are the 9-seed in the Western Conference coming out of the All-Star break with just 24 games remaining on their schedule.
Without Curry, the Warriors' offense has really struggled and on the season, they are just 9-11 overall without Steph Curry on the floor. Since he suffered this left leg injury, the Warriors have gone 2-3.
Playing in a total of 38 games this season, Curry has averaged 29.4 points, 6.4 assists and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 42.7 percent from three-point range.
Making sure Steph Curry is healthy is the team's top priority right now, even if it means that they will have to earn their spot in the postseason via the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.
The Warriors truly believe that they have a chance to repeat as champions at full-strength, which is why not rushing Curry back is the main focus of the organization.
This update is good news for Golden State and their fans, but what is also good news is the fact that despite their struggles, they are still just 3.5 games back from the 3-seed in the conference.
There is limited time left in the regular season, but the Warriors are capable of turning things around and with Steph expected back sometime in the next two-to-three weeks, they could absolutely go on a run and claim a Top-4 spot in the Western Conference standings.
