On October 2, the Golden State Warriors announced that Draymond Green would miss at least two weeks due to an ankle injury.

Green is one of the most important players on the team, so his status is critical to their success.

However, there is good news, as ESPN's Kendra Andrews reported that the four-time NBA Champion will likely be available when the Warriors play their first game of the regular season on October 24 against the Phoenix Suns.

Andrews: "He's going to miss at least their first three preseason games. They hope that he'll be back for those final two, but they are sure that he will be back by opening night."

This past year, Green averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 52.7% from the field and 30.5% from the three-point range in 73 games.

While he does not put up big numbers, he is the best defender on the team (and arguably their best playmaker).

The Warriors were the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 44-38 record.

They beat the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the NBA playoffs but lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round (in six games).

Green was initially the 35th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Michigan State and has spent his entire 11-year career playing for Golden State.

Over the previous nine seasons, he has helped them reach the NBA Finals six times (and win four NBA Championships).
