FINAL UPDATE: Jayson Tatum is available.

On Friday night, the Boston Celtics are hosting the Charlotte Hornets in Massachusetts.

For the game, All-Star forward Jayson Tatum has been upgraded to probable (illness), so he will likely be in the starting lineup.

Underdog NBA: "Jayson Tatum (illness) now probable Friday."

The former Duke star is in the middle of another tremendous season with averages of 30.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest in 52 games.

He is also shooting 46.2% from the field and 35.3% from the three-point range.

Last season, Tatum led the Celtics to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010, and this year they once again like a surefire contender.

The Celtics are the first seed in the Eastern Conference (and the best team in the NBA) with a 39-16 record in 55 games.

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak and have gone 6-4 in their last ten games.

At home, the Celtics are an outstanding 21-7 in the 28 games they have hosted in Boston.

As for the Hornets, it's been a tough season.

They have made the play-in tournament in each of the last two years but have dealt with injuries this season.

Right now, the Hornets are the 14th seed in the east with a 15-41 record in 56 games.

They are in the middle of a five-game losing streak and are 3-7 in their last ten games.

On the road, the Hornets have gone 8-24 in the 32 games they have played outside of Charlotte.
