On Monday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers will be in Massachusetts to take on the Boston Celtics for Game 1 of their second-round playoff series.

For the game, they will be without their best player, as ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Joel Embiid has been ruled out due to a knee injury.

Via Wojnarowski: "ESPN Sources: Philadelphia Sixers star Joel Embiid has been ruled out of Game 1 vs. the Boston Celtics tonight with a sprained right knee. There is optimism of a possible return for Game 2 on Tuesday."

The 76ers swept the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs, but Embiid missed Game 4.

Therefore, the superstar center hasn't played since Game 3, which was on April 20.

Embiid is coming off another sensational regular season with averages of 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per contest while shooting 54.8% from the field in 66 games.

In addition, the 76ers were one of the best teams in the league and are the third seed in the Eastern Conference (they went 54-28).

As for the Celtics, they are the second seed in the east (57-25) and defeated the Atlanta Hawks in the first round in six games.

During the regular season, the two teams faced off four times and the Celtics went 3-1 in those matchups

The winner of the series will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals and face off against either the Miami Heat or New York Knicks (the Heat currently lead 1-0).
