Latest Giannis Antetokounmpo Injury Update For Heat-Bucks Series
On Sunday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks lost 130-117 to the Miami Heat (at home) in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.
However, the bigger concern was that two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo got injured and did not return.
Shams Charania (appearing on FanDuel TV) reported an update on Antetokounmpo on Monday morning.
Charania: "I'm told there is optimism about his availability for Game 2. It's believed to be a pain tolerance issue that he's got in his lower back. The team wanted to play it safe, he came out; he landed real hard on his back, then he tried to come back into the game and he just felt discomfort. He didn't look himself, couldn't even really walk like himself, so they took him to the back. X-rays were negative. I expect him to be re-evaluated again today. This is something that even if he plays in Game 2, I'm told this is going to be something he's going to be battling. A long with he's got a ligament issue in his wrist as well, from what I'm told. He's got a couple of these little nagging injuries that are going to play a part potentially, but right now, Giannis, there is hope and optimism he'll be good, that he is fine moving forward."
The 2021 NBA Champion finished the game with six points and three rebounds in 11 minutes of playing time.
During the regular season, he averaged a sensational 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest while shooting 55.3% from the field.
The Bucks were the best team in the NBA and had a 58-24 record.
Game 2 will be played back in Wisconsin on Wednesday night.
