On Friday evening, the Miami Heat will visit the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
Before the game, the team announced that Dru Smith would miss the remainder of the season.
Via The Heat: "UPDATE: Dru Smith has been diagnosed with a 3rd degree right ACL sprain. He will be out for the remainder of the season."

Smith has played in nine games this season and is averaging 4.3 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest while shooting 45.5% from the field and 41.2% from the three-point range.
He is in his second season in the NBA and has career averages of 3.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 42.3% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range in 24 games.
In addition to the Heat, Smith spent part of last season with the Brooklyn Nets.

Smith has also played in the G League.
Last year, he averaged 15.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.0 steals per contest in 22 regular season games.

As for the Heat, they are 10-5 in their first 15 games, which has them as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.
They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak and are 9-1 in their previous ten games.
Most recently, the Heat defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 129-96 (the game that Smith got injured in).
Last season, they were the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference but were able to make the NBA Finals for the second time in the previous four years.
