Minnesota Timberwolves Player Reportedly Injured
Jaden McDaniels has become one of the best players on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The former Washington star is coming off a strong year where he averaged 12.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 51.7% from the field and 39.8% from the three-point range in 79 regular season games.
On Saturday evening, the Timberwolves will play the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden for their third preseason game.
However, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reports that McDaniels has been ruled out for the game and will be out for at least a week and a half.
Via Krawczynski: "Jaden McDaniels will not play tonight against New York because of a minor left calf strain that has kept him out practice this week, team sources tell @TheAthletic. He will be re-evaluated in a week and a half."
McDaniels was initially the 28th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and has been in the league for three seasons (all with the Timberwolves).
Over 212 regular season games, he has career averages of 9.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 48.2% from the field and 36.0% from the three-point range.
The 23-year-old has also helped the Timberwolves make the NBA playoffs in each of the previous two seasons.
Last year, they were the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 42-40 record.
They beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in the play-in tournament but lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.
