Scoot Henderson's Injury Status For Trail Blazers-Spurs Game

Scoot Henderson has been ruled out for Sunday's NBA Summer League game.

Scoot Henderson was the third pick in the 2023 NBA Draft last month by the Portland Trail Blazers

The 19-year-old is seen as a player with significant potential to become an All-Star.

On Friday, Henderson played in his first NBA Summer League game against the Houston Rockets and put up 15 points, five rebounds, six assists and one steal in 21 minutes of playing time (the Rockets won 100-99).

However, he got injured during the game and did not return..

On Sunday evening, the Trail Blazers will face off against the Spurs in what was supposed to be an intriguing matchup between Henderson and first-overall pick Victor Wembanyama.

Unfortunately, the Trail Blazers have already announced that Henderson has been ruled out for the contest.

Via Trail Blazers PR: "INJURY UPDATE: Scoot Henderson (right shoulder strain) will miss Sunday night’s game vs. San Antonio and will be listed as day-to-day going forward."

Even if the injury is not severe, it would make sense for the Trail Blazers to be highly cautious.

Henderson has the potential to make a big impact on their team next year, and training camp begins in September.

Last season, the Trail Blazers were the 13th seed in the Western Conference and had a 33-49 record.

Despite All-Star Damian Lillard putting up huge numbers (32.2 points per contest), the team missed the NBA playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Following the Spurs, the Trail Blazers will play their next Summer League game on Tuesday against the Charlotte Hornets.
