Iowa's Kate Martin will be starting her WNBA career in Las Vegas. The former Hawkeye was selected by the Aces in the second round of the 2024 WNBA Draft, going No. 18 overall.

Martin was in Brooklyn, N.Y. for the draft to show support for teammate and No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark. But Martin had a special surprise while in attendance, hearing her name called on Monday night.

Martin played a huge role in Iowa's success last season. She averaged 13.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for the Hawkeyes. She helped lead Iowa to a Big Ten Tournament title and a return trip to the national championship.

In her five seasons at Iowa, Martin played 163 games, making 139 starts. She took a big jump from her junior season to her senior campaign, nearly doubling her point average.

Martin averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game during her five-year career.

Las Vegas finished the 2023 season with a 34-6 record and won a WNBA championship for a second consecutive season. The Aces have reached the playoffs every year since 2019 and have played in the WNBA Finals three times in the last four seasons.
