2022-23 NBA Scoring Leaders Final Results

The 2022-23 NBA season has come to an end and here are the players who led the league in scoring.

For the second consecutive season, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid led the NBA in scoring, as he averaged 33.1 points per game over the course of the 2022-23 NBA season. 

Embiid is the first big man to lead the league in scoring in back-to-back seasons since Bob McAdoo did so from 1973-76 with the Buffalo Braves, who are now the Los Angeles Clippers. 

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic finished second in the league in scoring this season, averaging 32.4 points per game, as Damian Lillard finished third and was the only other player to average at least 32.0 points per game at 32.2 points per game. 

Here is how the Top-10 in scoring finished: 

  1. Joel Embiid (PHI): 33.1 PPG
  2. Luka Doncic (DAL): 32.2 PPG
  3. Damian Lillard (POR): 32.2 PPG
  4. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC): 31.4 PPG
  5. Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL): 31.1 PPG
  6. Jayson Tatum (BOS): 30.1 PPG
  7. Donovan Mitchell (CLE): 28.3 PPG
  8. Kyrie Irving (DAL): 27.3 PPG
  9. Jaylen Brown (BOS): 26.6 PPG
  10. Trae Young (ATL), Ja Morant (MEM): 26.2 PPG

When looking at total points scored this season however, Jayson Tatum finished as the league leader for the Boston Celtics with 2,225 total points this season. 

Here is how the Top-10 in total points finished: 

  1. Jayson Tatum (BOS): 2,225 points
  2. Joel Embiid (PHI): 2,183 points
  3. Luka Doncic (DAL): 2,138 points
  4. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC): 2,135 points
  5. Giannis Antetokounmpo (MIL): 1,959 points
  6. Anthony Edwards (MIN): 1,949 points
  7. Julius Randle (NYK): 1,936 points
  8. Donovan Mitchell (CLE): 1,922 points
  9. Trae Young (ATL): 1,914 points
  10. Zach LaVine (CHI): 1,913 points

Of those finishing inside the Top-10 in scoring seven players will be participating in either the Play-In Tournament or playoffs this season.
