Juwan Howard had a fantastic 19-year career as an NBA player.

The two-time NBA Champion played his college basketball for Michigan, and he is currently their head coach.

On Friday, Michigan Men's Basketball announced that Howard "underwent a successful heart procedure."

Via Michigan Men's Basketball: "Juwan Howard underwent a successful heart procedure at the U-M's Health Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center today.

Howard is expected to fully recover in 6 to 12 weeks, could return in 4 to 6 weeks"

Howard was initially the fifth pick in the 1994 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets.

He played for the Washington Bullets/Wizards, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Bobcats.

His career averages were 13.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest while shooting 46.9% from the field in 1,208 regular season games.

He also appeared in 49 NBA playoff games and was on the Miami Heat at the end of his career (who won two NBA Championships in 2012 and 2013).

Following Howard's retirement from the NBA, he was an assistant coach for the Heat for six seasons.

In 2019-20, the former NBA star took over as the head coach of the Wolverines.

Over 127 games, Michigan has an impressive 79-48 record under Howard, and they have made the NCAA Tournament in two out of the previous three seasons.

Last year, they went 18-16 and lost to Vanderbilt in the NIT.

Howard's son (Jett) was the 11th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft after one season of college basketball with the Wolverines.
