Andrew Wiggins Update Reported Before Warriors-Raptors Game
On Friday evening, the Golden State Warriors will play the Toronto Raptors in Canada.
For the game, the Warriors will remain without one of their best players, as 2022 NBA Champion Andrew Wiggins has been ruled out due to personal reasons.
Wiggins has missed each of the previous two games, so this will be his third straight out of action.
Shams Charania, appearing on FanDuel TV's Run It Back, reported the latest on Wiggins (on Friday morning).
Charania: "I'm told Andrew Wiggins is dealing and tending to a serious family matter right now, and the Warriors are giving him his space. They're giving him his time. The expectation, Steve Kerr's spoken on it. The expectation is Andrew Wiggins will be returning at some point this season. They're optimistic about that."
The Warriors are currently the tenth seed in the Western Conference with a 31-27 record in 58 games.
They have been able to win each of the previous two games without Wiggins and are 8-2 over their last ten.
Anthony Slater of The Athletic asked Steve Kerr about Wiggins before Thursday's 110-99 victory over the New York Knicks.
Slater: "You would categorize it as an excused absence?"
Kerr: "Oh yeah. This is a personal issue that he's dealing with, and we expect him back."
Wiggins is averaging 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 45.5% from the field and 35.1% from the three-point range in 51 games.
He is in his tenth season in the NBA and has also spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
