Atlanta Hawks Release A Player

The Atlanta Hawks have waived Chris Silva.

Chris Silva played one game with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2022-23 NBA season.

This summer, he was a free agent and recently signed a deal with the Atlanta Hawks.

However, the Hawks have now announced that they have waived Silva (h/t Hoops Rumors).

In addition to playing for the Mavs last season, Silva also played for the College Park Skyhawks in the G League.

He averaged 14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 51.5% from the field in 21 regular season games (he also appeared in 18 Showcase Cup games).

Deals where a player gets signed and then waived happen a lot around this time of the year, so it's possible that Silva will return to the Skyhawks this season.

In addition to the Mavs, Silva has also played for the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves over four seasons.

His career averages are 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest while shooting 60.9% from the field in 70 regular season games.

Since he played well in the G League, Silva could be a good addition to an NBA team at some point during the year.

As for the Hawks, they are coming off a year where they were the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.

They beat the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament but lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in six games).

The franchise has made the playoffs for three straight seasons (and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021).
