Atlanta Hawks Reportedly Made A Trade Offer For NBA Champion
Pascal Siakam is coming off an impressive year where he averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per contest while shooting 48.0% from the field and 32.4% from the three-point range in 71 regular season games for the Toronto Raptors.
This summer, the two-time NBA All-Star has been mentioned in an abundance of trade rumors.
On Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Atlanta Hawks have recently made a trade offer for Siakam.
Via Charania's article in The Athletic: "Atlanta has offered a package centered around De’Andre Hunter, AJ Griffin and draft compensation to Toronto for Siakam, league sources say. But the Raptors are believed to have upped the price on any possible deal at each turn."
Hunter was initially the fourth pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Virginia and is coming off a year where he averaged 15.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 46.1% from the field and 35.0% from the three-point range.
Meanwhile, Griffin is coming off his rookie year (he was the 16th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft) and averaged 8.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 46.5% from the field and 39.0% from the three-point range.
Last year, the Hawks were the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference and lost to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in six games).
They have a talented roster led by Trae Young and Dejounte Murray and have been to the postseason for three straight years (they made the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021).
Adding a player like Siakam could make them a legitimate contender to win the NBA Championship.
