BREAKING: 76ers Reportedly "Plan To Sign" Recent Bulls And Lakers Player
The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season, and currently sit as the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 37-19 record in 56 games.
On Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that they "plan to sign" Mac McClung out of the G League.
Via Charania: "The Philadelphia 76ers plan to sign guard Mac McClung on two-way NBA contract out of their G League Delaware Blue Coats affiliate, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. On cusp of his Dunk Contest appearance, McClung gets call up to the NBA."
To make room, Charania adds that they will waive Julian Champagnie.
McClung was a well-known college basketball player for Georgetown and Texas Tech.
He went undrafted in 2021 but played in two games for the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers as a rookie.
During the 2022-23 preseason, the 24-year-old was with the Golden State Warriors but was waived.
In the G League regular season, he has been excellent, with averages of 19.1 points per contest on 57.9% shooting from the field and 50.0% from the three-point range.
As a two-way player, McClung is definitely worth taking a chance on.
Meanwhile, Champagnie is a rookie and has played two games for the 76ers.
He's had a solid G League regular season with averages of 14.3 points per contest on 35.2% shooting from the three-point range.
The 76ers will play their next game on Wednesday night when they host Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
