BREAKING: Boston Celtics Release 3-Year NBA Player

The Boston Celtics waived a player before Tuesday's game.

On Tuesday evening, the Boston Celtics will host the Cleveland Cavaliers in Massachusetts.

Before the game, the team announced that they had waived Nathan Knight.

Via The Celtics: "We have waived Nathan Knight."

Knight joined the Celtics on a two-way contract in October but never appeared in an NBA game with the team.

The 26-year-old has played three seasons in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves.

His career averages are 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 47.6% from the field and 26.5% from the three-point range in 108 regular season games.

He has also appeared in eight NBA playoff games and was with the Hawks when they reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021.

Now that Knight will become a free agent, he will be a name to watch, as another team could sign him.

The Celtics will now have an open two-way roster spot, so they could sign a player at some point soon.

They are currently the first seed in the Eastern Conference with a 16-5 record in their first 21 games.

Most recently, the Celtics defeated the New York Knicks by a score of 133-123.

Derrick White had his best game of the season and put up 30 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks while shooting 10/16 from the field and 6/10 from the three-point range in 32 minutes of playing time.

Following Tuesday's game, the Celtics will host the Cavs (again) on Thursday in Boston, Massachusetts.
